Ahhhhhh

The first signs of spring are starting to appear here in the valley. It was in the mid 50s today and the sun was out every once in a while. Recent rain has started our grass growing. Avery and I went out a played a for a bit this evening. We tossed the disc around, played chase, played with the hose (no water just the hose) and of course we broke out the shovel. He dug a nice hole so I can sprain my ankle when I push him on his swing. After our 2 weeks hovering around freezing in Switzerland is was nice to be out without a parka and a gloves.

There are a few new pictures up on Picasa.

Lullaby

Brahms Lullaby Verse 1

Lullaby, and good night, with pink roses bedight,With lilies o'er spread, is my baby's sweet head.Lay thee down now, and rest, may thy slumber be blessed!Lay thee down now, and rest, may thy slumber be blessed!

While we in Switzerland Emily and I would sing to the kids at night. Emily would sing Brahms Lullaby as requested by her kids. Avery requested it tonight at dinner as he has become a fan also. Georgia and I were looking up the words and came across them as shown above. Georgia asked what is bedight? Avery quickly replied " you get your flashlight out when you go to sleep then you have your bed light". Georgia and I about fell over laughing. He is quick on his feet, you have to give him that.

The Kershners are home! (27 hours later)

To say that our trip home went off without a hitch would be a lie. First thing we hit the train station in Morges headed for the airport. We had seven bags, 1 stroller, 2 kids, and one father who gets anxious when he has to catch trains and planes. Georgia put her credit card in the ticket machine and it got stuck. We had about 10 minutes of panic there. The ticket agent came out and freed the card though so every thing was okay there. We just made the train but climbed into a first class car by mistake. So I had to drag all the luggage through the train to get to our car while Georgia juggled the kids. The airport in Geneva went okay but our flight was delayed by bad weather in Frankfort. This gave us about 20 minutes to get boarding passes and make our flight inFrankfort, which was 2 sprints and a tram ride away. Nothing like working up a sweat when you have to sit on a plane for 10 hours. No scratch that there was a head wind - 11 hour flight back to San Fransisco. Once we arrived we were a little worried about making our Medford flight so we ran for the passport check and made it trough in no time. Then waited for our luggage to come out of the carosal so we could go through customs. Ours were the last 4 bags to come off the plane. I never saw the fifth or the stroller come out. We then made it through imagrations, dashed for security and headed for the gate only to find our flight had been canceled. We should have checked that first. Come to find out we were already booked on the 10:30 flight home. We were pretty happy with that until we watched the board for a while and watched our departure time creep later and later into the night. Our flight that was canceled was supposed to arrive in Medford at 9:30 PM. Our actual flight left San Fransisco at 12:20 AM. We made it home by about 2:00. My head is still spinning from the entire ordeal. It was sure nice to be home after that. We did have a great time though and it was hard to say good bye when we left. The picture below is that last night for the kids. We broke out the matching Christmas PJs. Little Muriel was already asleep, so there it is 10 toes short, but still pretty cute.

Seems like there is something missing

Today was not a good day for me. While visiting the cathedral today I asked Emily if I could use her new camera while she sat with Georgia. During the 10 minutes I had it my camera walked away. I had already broken my standard lense so I was borrowing Pat and Emily's from their older camera so it is gone too. A sad thing on vacation. Needless to say this may slow my picture posting. Luckily most of the picture from the trip are on Pat's Computer. O well live and learn I guess.

It is hard being to small

It is hard being to small to play with the big kids.
You just want to know what is going on.
It is nice when your big cousin comes along
And extends a loving hand.

Flying Solo

Today we headed out (the Kershner's that is) on our own to Chateau de Chillon. This is what the weather looked like at 6:00 this morning. We got the kids ready and headed for the train station. Everything went well and we enjoyed the trip. Even though it was cold both the boys hung in there for the trip. If you every though castles were warm places try standing at the top of the keep in a snow storm. Check out the Picasa page for some picture of the trip.

Jet Lag

Having not been any farther out of my time zone then Anchorage or Denver I have never really had jet lag. Come to find out I don't like it. Avery woke me up at 3:00 this morning and I could not go back to sleep. I grabbed a quick nap before we went to the store today because my hands were shaking. The kids seem to be sleeping okay though, just as long as they are laying with us. I took this picture around 4:00 a.m.. It is light painted with someones shark LED flash light. Inspiration comes at weird moments.

We Made it

Well we made it to Switzerland. A Day late but we made it. Our very first flight was delayed. We only had an hour in Sanfransisco so there was no was we were going to catch that flight. We still flew down to Sanfransisco and spent the night in a hotel. We caught our flight the next morning with only a few small problems. It was a long time to be in the plane with the boys but we survived.

The first night here was a little hard because our boys thought they should be awake but things seem to be going okay now. I will keep you posted on how things are going.
