Avery was chomping at the bit to get outside so we just let him go after a little lunch. There was a knock on the door a few minutes later. I grumbled as a walked to the door. If he wants to go out so bad why does he not want stay there. Turns out he had picked this flower for Georgia. I got one a few minutes later. No more grumbling.
Avery flower for mom.
P.S. he just shoved a dandy lion through the dog door.

A weekend of firsts
Happy Birthday
We had a very nice day for Eli's birthday. Both sets of Grandparents made it down for the event. Grandma Mickey came over and so did Uncle Bob. All other parties that were planning on comming came down with various ailment. We hope everyone is feeling better. Eli enjoyed his cake very much. He had two hand fulls and would alternate between them. There will be some pictures up on Picasa tonight or tomorrow.

Happy Birthday, here is a needle in you leg
Today was Eli's 1 year check up, just one day shy of his first birthday. All things checked out okay. He weighed in at 20.3 lbs and was 30 inches long. He got a shot in each leg. I am of the opinion that the shots don't bother him that bad, but being held in one place really gets his blood pumping. The doctor said he was meeting all him milestones for a normal one year old, which is good since he was born so early.

Its good to be spring!
For the last two days the boys and I have been enjoying the sunshine in the after noon. Even though it is below freezing at night, daytime temperatures have been pushing up into the 60's. Today we did a little work on the flower bed. Eli was a big fan of Avery's rake. He spent most of his time twirling it above his head, or just sitting and watching what Avery and I were doing. It is so nice to be outside in the sun! Too bad it looks short lived.

Me and the Boys
As a cost cutting measure we have cut the boys back to two half days at daycare. We don't want to lose our spot and this is the bear minimum that they allow. Today was my first day home with the boys in the afternoon. All things considered it went well. Being with them has been the best part of being laid off. I need to work on the routine a little but we will get better at it. Eli and I had a nap in the rocking chair while Avery had "quite time". I woke up to " Want to Get UP!" being repeated over and over. I survived though and so did they. Probably the most stressful part of the afternoon was taking the picture below. Avery wanted to run the camera and kept moving things and Eli wanted to stand on the tripod and eat the PC cable running to the flash. During the process Eli did stand up for probably 30 to 45 seconds all by himself. That was a personal best for him. I snapped a bunch of pictures but they don't really tell the story.

Happy Birthday Uncle Bob
Today we were invited to dinner with Uncle Bob and Aunt Sandy for Uncle Bob's Birthday. We had a good meal and a great time. Eli has taking to shrieking when he wants something. You could hear him from one end to the other of Hometown Buffet. It is strange when Avery is the quite one. Below is Avery explaining the drawing he made on Uncle Bob's card. I believe there was a backhoe, and airplane and a tractor. Don't be shocked but the card was green, as in "My favorite's green!". Avery got to pick out his desert, as anyone should at a buffet. He picked the green cake of course. Being able to read would have helped him out because green cake was the sugar free desert. Luckily dad came through with the soft serve cone (swirl in case you are wondering).

He has a new name for everything.
Today we went and visited my Grandmother in Ashland. Grandma Micky loves jewelery. Avery was looking through a small jewelery box that his cousin Michael had made for Grandma and admiring all the rings in it. He took over to Grandma and they examined them together. He picked one out that he thought she should wear. Grandma agreed and said "let me take off my wedding rings and put that one on." Avery said "Daddy has a wife ring too." Looks like he gets it already.
