Let it be know on this day in 1910 a great hero to world passed away leaving behind a legacy that comforts us all every day. Yes today is Thomas Crapper Day. While many of you pass though each day without a thought to the man, the myth, here at the Kershner house we are reminded every day as we have a Thomas Crapper Line toilet with the emblem as shown below. Every time the seat is put down (yes I do that, it is not safe for the kids otherwise) we see the glorious reminder of the man. So sit back, grab a copy of your favorite periodical, and give thanks to Thomas Crapper for the gifts he brought to this world. For more information look here
P.S. Thank you to my sister for pointing this out. Go Kelley!

No its not DAD!
The object in question below is Avery's Fun dog cup. It is so named because it has dogs on it and..... well it is quite fun. Last night at dinner Avery asked what the blue thing was. I told him it was a pinkney flange. He said no its not dad. I showed it to Georgia and said "Mom is this a pinkney flange", she agreed it was. Then Avery said no dad it is to keep the water from leaking out. Neither Georgia or I had explained that to him. Sometimes it hurts a little when your three year old one ups you. And for those of you who don't know a pinkney flange is found on most foreign cars and should be changed every time you rotate the air in the tires and have the blinker fluid changed.
NEW COLOR
On Wednesday when Avery got hom from school he asked for his backpack (aka his lunch bag). We asked what was in it and he got a cut look and said it is a SUPRISE! I got it for him and he rummaged around a bit and produced his new color. His teacher teaches them Spanish. He was very excited about it.

You have to want it
So we did not get right to chocolate in our Averyskeeter (as Avery thinks they are called) but we did get to it. I read mixed thought on weather a non flat bottomed cast iron pan should be used on a glass top stove so I braved the weather and headed to the grill to cook them. Cooking outside meant I would be doing to the cooking so I geared up and headed outside. This was my first time cooking Aebleskivers Things went well and they are very very tasty. Definite worth the effort. The kids and parents both like them a lot.
Here is the cooking setup and the ambient temperature.
Me in action and sneaking a bite :)
The kids enjoying!

Popcorn
A few nights ago I snuck out to workout as it had been quite a long time. When I got home I finished putting Avery to bed. He did not seem tired but after I left him he was quite. About 30 or 40 minutes passed my hunger got the best of me. I fired up the popcorn Popper and made a big bowl. As soon as I was done I heard Avery crying. I went in and got him and he mumbled something I did not understand. I went to put him back to bead and he got upset. I asked again what was wrong this time I got it "I hear popcorn". Well it was too cute to not let him have some.

And the Angels Did Sing
Today, as Georgia was looking through the mail she came across her Williams-Sonoma Catalog. There on Page 15 a great moment of clarity came across my beautiful wife and she exclaimed "THEY PUT CHOCOLATE IN THEIR ABLESKIVERS". All things were dropped and off she went. We will let you know how it turns out.

You just never know what he is going to do.
First off this pictures is up to let everyone know Avery is doing everything he can to avoid having his picture taken. This may be the view of him you will have to get used to.
This morning I hear the usual "Dad... Can I get up, Dad? Dad?". It was indeed time to get up so I grabbed my clothes and slippers and sneaked out of bed (Eli had joined Georgia and I sometime during the early morning hours). I sat down on Avery's bed and stared getting dressed. Again "Dad, Can I get up?". I said sure and as I was slipping on my slippers he began to tell me about the dream he had. Usually when he is told he can get up, he heads straight out for a cartoon, but not this morning he just sat and told me his story. It seems him and his friend the bear (I believe the bear to be Stillwater from the book Zen Shorts) went to Jacksonville (to Avery Jacksonville is only the toy store in Jacksonville). I asked if they got toys and he said the just played there. Then they went grocery shopping. Each destination was described in great detail and quite accurately mirrored the actual things we have been doing over the week. He proceeded to tell his story for about 25 minutes. I didn't say much except for a nod of my head now and again to let him know I was listening. I still floors me that he tell a story for 25 minutes with no stop in the action. At the 25 minute mark the garbage truck pulled up and he had to go peek out the window, so it kind of broke his flow but we still stayed in bed and read a Curious George book. It was quite a special morning.
