You have to hand it to Avery, when mom says "you can lick the bowl" he licks the bowl.
To his defense they were some darn fine muffins.
A few Avery quotes for the day.
1. "Dad you need to thank me and mom for the muffins" (he was right about this)
2. "I want mom to push the cart, she is smart" (he was right about this too)
3. [Dad] "You want some cereal now son" [Avery] "No I think it is time for a candy cane"(he was wrong about this)

Christmas is near !
We have been busy running around like crazy trying to get christmas stuff done. Avery and I went over and got snow tires put on the car. On the way over he declared "Dad, people with wiskers can talk LOUD" I said "So since I have wiskers I can talk loud" "YES". There you go.
We went to Jacksonville today to enjoy some christams festivities. We had the kids sit with Father Christmas and then we took a horse drawn wagon ride around the city. Avery really liked the horses. I will put some pictures of them up in Picasa.

Where did the sun go
Avery has been bouncing off the wall so I decided to take him to the playground today. One thing lead to another and we did not get over there untill just after sun down. He still had a good time though. Eli was not as happy to be in the ergo. He much perfers to see what is going on. I also lugged my camera stuff as you can see. It was just about time to go and Eli lost it so I had to take him out of the Ergo and carry him. It was quite a mess with a tripod, camera bag, camera, kid, and another kid. We made it though. I got a few decent pictures out of it though so it was worth it.
I am sick of just sitting around

Avery quote of the day
Today avery was asking about his aunt's for some reason. We asked if he knew who his aunts were. Not really grasping the consept he guess Bob, Sand and out friend Lindy. Well 1 for three ain't bad. So we started the process of explaing who aunts were. When I got to Amanda he got excited and said "MOM! Uncle Amanda is my Aunt" Very cute. SO I guess she is Aunt Uncle Amanda now.
Catch up (again)
Well it has been awhile. Not even sure what to write. We had Avery's Christmas program this week. It was very cute. There are pictures (not very good sorry) and movies up on my Picasa page. Avery also woke up with another dream this week. It seems a bear, one of Georgi's old bears with a winder?, was trying to clime down some where. They were both trying to drive to the house but they could not find it. Then it turns out the bear is in the garage in a box. We have yet to make an actual search for the bear. He is also become quite the little singer. He is picking words up in lots of songs and is singing quite a bit. On the down side he has been singing the theme song the Fifi and the flower tots (there is an episode of this at the end of one of his Bob the Builder DVD's).
Eli is still on his quest to stand up. He tries to climb up just about anything he gets his hands on. He stood up once in the crib because I was changing Avery on the changing table at the end of it. He wanted in the action I guess. This morning Avery was on my lap and we were his preferred ladder. It makes him mad he can't let go when he stands up. He does not seem as patient as Avery did. He is still enjoying eating. Every time the spoon comes up his little mouth pops open. He also likes little sips of water out of a straw.
Eli has decided to be the early riser these days. Avery ended up in bed with me last night so I am a little groggy. There was whining about wanting something to eat about 3:30 this morning. I did not want him to wake up Eli so I drug him with me. So I had about 3 square inches of bed until 6:30 when Eli woke up. So I think I am just writing aimlessly now so I am am going to stop.

Catch Up
From November 23 |
Well lets see it has been a while since I posted so I am playing catch up. Lets start with today. We had a real lazy day. Avery fell asleep for his nap at about 2:00. He then proceeded to sleep for 3 hours. He thought it was the next morning when he woke up. He was very confused. We are renting a movie for us to watch with him tonight since he will never go to sleep. Besides sleeping he has been eating a lot, at least in the morning. He must be in a growth spurt.
My parents came this weekend and gave us a helping hand. Thanks Mom and Dad. Every one had fun seeing each other. We did learn (again) that the kids do NOT like to sit for pictures henceforth the above photo.
Saturday morning Eli stood himself up on the fire place! It did not last long but he did it. He now gets up in his bear crawl position and can't figure out why he is not standing up. He just starts to scream in frustration. It is kind of cute. I am thinking he might skip crawling all together and just go from army crawl to walking. He is also working on his top two teeth. One broke through today.

Eyed Brown Grill
No big surprise I have a Van Morrison CD in the truck which we listen to on the way to daycare in the morning. Avery really likes Brown eyed girl, but he calls id Eyed Brown grill. Oddly every time U2 comes on the radio he curls in the fetal position and cries, wait maybe that was me. I try and block out that kind of trauma.
I put a hat on today because I am going to be working in the field here in a few minutes. Avery though he needed a hat too. So we both wore our carhartt hats on. Halfway to daycare he decided he needed it on backwards like Uncle Mike. He walked into daycare and proudly announced he had his hat on backwards, not forwards.

An update at last
Sorry it has been a while since I blogged something. It has been a busy and stressful week. I guess the biggest news this week is Eli's developments. I got a report when I picked him up on Thursday that he has started waving! Miss Amber said he waved at himself but waved non the less. We beat mom home, but when she got here sure enough we gave her a little wave. Then on Friday Georgia left him in the living room for a few minutes and when she came back he was sitting up. Right before I started to write this I watched him sit up again. He also learned that if he throws his toy off the highchair whichever parent is on that side will pick it up. So he tosses stuff then looks expectantly at you. If you give him a little grin then he just cracks up. Very cute.

Avery's Dream
Today at lunch we had the pleasure of hearing about Avery's Dream. It seems that he and Nana were on a walk and encountered chickens. These chickens had it in for Mom and Avery and they took out after then to "peck peck peck" them. It seems they were being chases by a one legged white chicken. Now if that ain't scary I don't know what is. He also had the great misfortune to fall out the stroller. You see he was not strapped in. Nana should really be more careful. They were of course out on a walk in search of Backhoes.

Daylight Savings Time
I hate daylight savings time :(. I read this morning why we have it. It was my previous opinion that it was to torturer people with small children who like to wake up at 5:30 4:30. Errrrrr

Halloween
Last night we made our trick-or-treat journey through the Rogue Valley Mall. It is a fun place to go because you get to see all sorts of costumes. The giraffe with the big booty is a fine example. Avery harldy said two words the whole time besides trick-or-treat and thank you. He was just soaking it all in.

Poor Amanda
On the way home from daycare Avery Announced that Aunt Amanda was sick and we needed to go to her house and taker her to the hospital in the truck. I said "you want me to drive to Aunt Amanda's house and driver her to the Hospital in the truck?" He said "No me". Figuring what ever ailment Amanda had was safer then being taken to the hospital by a 3 year old driver we opted to stay home. Sorry Amanda.

Mom aint to happy
The Kershners have their indoor photo shoot tomorrow. As you can see, Avery was little hard on his face
this weekend. First he stepped out of his booster seat into the bead maze and cut the inside of his lip. A couple of hours later he was using his dump truck as a cherry picker (not a good idea as it turns out) and fell and cut the outside of his lip on the other side. Then two minutes later he fell face first into his large metal dump truck. He almost took out an eye but just ended up with a bruied cheek. So, as you can see, he is slightly beat up. Then today Daddy got to go to work. I spend about 6 hours construction staking. Who needs sunscreen in in October? Appartly I do. Daddy is a little red. So we might have a group makeup session tomorrow. I hope she does not put to much rouge on me :(.

That's not good!
Pictures
It is now 7:00 we need to be out the door at 9:00 to make it to Ashland for our family pictures at 10:00. Eli did not sleep much and was brought into bed at a time unknown to me. Avery had one nightmare in the night at about 4:45. I have been up more or less since then. Georgia went in for a 20 minute nap because she got no sleep. What I am trying to say is we should look beautiful for our pictures.
Update:
It is now 8:40 Georgia is putting on makeup Eli is asleep and no one is dressed for the pictures yet. I do have some snacks ready.
Final Update:
We made it! We pulled into the park and just as we were getting out of the car as the photographer walked by. Perfect timing. We were all a little red nosed from the cold we are currently sharing, but the kids did well and the photographer was pleases with how things went. The colors in the park were fantastic! They said the pictures would be up on the web in a week or so. We will keep everybody informed.

Walking Moon
Avery has been quite interested in the moon the last few weeks. Someone told him it was a waxing moon. He took this to mean it was a walking moon. He has inquired several times as to the fact that if it is a walking moon where are the legs? Now the moon is full and he is thoroughly confused.

Thats not a pocket son
Today was quite a day. I stayed home from work because I am not feeling so well. Georgia took the kids for a walk and Avery found some seeds from a tree to show me. He put them in his pocket and they headed home. After the walk it was lunch and and then nap time. We are trying to get Eli used to the crib so we put Avery to sleep in our bed. I read him books and returned to my perch on the couch. A few minutes later he started crying. I had not heard a thud so I was not to excited about it. Georgia went in to check on him and I suddenly heard her commanding him not to sniff in. Yes you guessed it the seed was up his nose. We tried to get it out with the sniffer and even tweezers but we had no luck. I will tell you this if you want to make a kid mad pin him to the bed and shove things up his nose. So we rushed him to the doctors office where they got us in right away. The doctor informed us it was a routine problem. So Georgia held his feet. I held most of the middle of him and nurse held his head. The Doctor almost got it back out on the first try but it went back in. Then he put his finger behind it and shoved at the same time as he was pulling with his instrument and POP! out it came. The one in his nose turned out to be larger then the one his still had in his pocket. While we were there we squeezed in his three year appointment and he is looking well. He was 38.5 inches tall and about 32 lbs. Everything else looked good. I only thought kids stuck stuff up there nose on sitcoms on TV. Below is an example seed to show you what was up his nose.
